Frank Komin is president and general manager of Oxy of Long Beach (Calif.), which operates the THUMS oil and natural gas facility in Long Beach Harbor.
THUMS is made up of four man-made islands, as well as onshore facilities. The islands are uniquely designed not to look like functioning oil and gas production facilities – with rigs and other above-ground equipment camouflaged and sound-proofed to maintain harbor ambiance.
