Take Action on the Issues

We've recently added a new section to our Web site: the Action Center--which allows you to contact the administration and Congress and speak up on two very controversial energy issues:

We've been quite clear about our position on both issues. We favor increased domestic production because every respected energy forecast has concluded that our country will be consuming more oil and natural gas for many years in the future. We oppose new taxes and fees because history has shown that they tend to put upward pressure on energy prices for all of us.

Offshore Technology Conference: May 4-7

If you're into technology and mind-boggling engineering, you'll enjoy reading about our travels next week. A couple of us from API are going to Houston for the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC)--the "must attend" offshore energy event where the advanced technologies used to explore for and produce oil and natural gas are put on display.

Want to see undersea robots that work at depths no human can withstand? Want to experience the hunt for oil and natural gas using computer models that project images of hidden energy resources in a 3D-kaleidoscope of color? Would you like to learn more about how Brazil became energy independent by finding huge oil deposits off its coastline? The OTC is the place to go.

Talk With Us

Welcome to the new Energy Tomorrow blog. I'm Jane Van Ryan, API's Senior Communications Manager for New Media, and I'm one of the people who will be contributing to the blog. As you know, energy continues to be a critically important topic of discussion in the United States today, and many Americans are eager for information about energy.

To that end, API has endeavored to provide factual, third-party content through our Web site, and we've answered questions from visitors who've contacted us. Now we want to take that to the next level.

Through this new blog, we aim to be:

  • Informative: Energy issues are complicated, to say the least. We'll do our best to break down some of these complex issues in a way that's easy to understand, and we'll answer your questions in an open dialogue.
