The statistics about the oil spill continue to come in, showing that the size and the scope of the response are unprecedented. At last report, there were hundreds of vessels and more than 25,000 people--scientists, engineers, wildlife experts, shrimpers and others--working together to battle the spill and plug the well.
Each of these individuals has a story to tell, but few are as poignant as those told to The New York Times aboard a drilling rig. These offshore oil workers recently learned that the administration's six-month deepwater drilling moratorium could destroy their jobs and force the rig to move overseas.
