New Jersey Energy Summit

API, the New Jersey Petroleum Council and New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce hosted the New Jersey Energy Summit on December 17, 2007 at The Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, N.J. More than 170 of the state’s top business leaders and policymakers attended the comprehensive and informative event discussing the most pressing energy issues in New Jersey.

The event featured three panels on energy markets and prices, how the states' foremost energy companies are working to meet energy demands, and the policies municipalities can implement to address energy concerns. Panelists and keynote speakers included:

  • Red Cavaney, API president and chief executive officer
  • John Felmy, API chief economist
  • Dr. Emil Jacobs, vice president research and development for ExxonMobil
  • John Troutman, BP Gas America’s president
  • Jim Benton, executive director of the New Jersey Petroleum Council
  • Ralph LaRossa, president and COO, PSE&G
  • Willie Chiang, senior vice president, Commercial, ConocoPhillips
  • Stephen E. Morgan, president, Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L)
  • Jane Pajak, Northeast district leader, Colonial Pipeline
  • Larry Downes, president and chief executive officer, New Jersey Natural Gas
  • Dr. Joseph Seneca, professor in the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and chairman of the New Jersey Council of Economic Advisors
  • Daniel Brusstar, vice president of energy research for the New York Mercantile Exchange
  • Lance Miller, chief of policy and planning at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU)
  • James Robinson, senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Lou Magazzu from the New Jersey Association of Counties
  • Mayor Meryl Frank of Highland Park

The event also featured API’s Interactive Technology Exhibit.

Oil Spill Prevention and Response

The oil and natural gas industry has pledged to work day and night to aid in recovery efforts for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, and to ensure lasting solutions are put into place.
